Youth Icon Program

Need Base India provides long term residential support to the children of the age from 6 to 18 years found in the most disadvantaged and uncertain situations. Once the children complete their class XII and are above 18 years, they no longer can be accommodated in the residential homes. However, due to the vulnerability of the disadvantaged children, NBI endeavours to extend care to the children for a smooth rehabilitation and reintegration into the society, as well as support them till they achieve self-reliance. This ensures a complete transition of the children into a responsible adult.

This is carried out through its Young Adult program. The program aims at nurturing every child to be a self-reliant youth, to lead an independent, successful, and meaningful life in the social mainstream.

The NBI’s Interventions program for Young adults Care ensures engagement with them through various initiatives as under:

Continued Education

Through this component the Youths are provided with Academic Admissions to courses of their choice and provided with admissions, Fees support, and all help in terms of building the learning abilities. Additional support for re-skilling is also extended to deserving students.

Life Exposures, Visits, Life skill education

The students are continuously facilitated through interactions with resource person to motivate them, expert sessions in Life skill, access to their entitlement like the Aadhar card, Voter card, driving licence, and all other fundamental documentation.

Living Support

Every student is ensured self-reliant, dignified and safe living arrangements through a stipend and living expenses by NBI.

Job readiness & Employment

The final process to ensure self-reliance of the young adult is through orientation about the Job market, skills and knowledge required for current job market, job opportunities & handholding the students to secure a job.

NBI takes pride in not only providing shelter homes for children from vulnerable and disadvantaged sections of the community but has also endeavoured to ensure that every child is supported till he/she is able to be self-sufficient. 71 students have settled down in their lives since 2009. Right now, there are 114 students pursuing diploma/degree/professional education, to enable them to secure their future.
